bio

I have been creating art my whole life and have delved into many different media over that time including painting, drawing, photography and textile art. My training in science, which has broadened my naturally enquiring mind, gives me an interest in the technicalities of print.

It was during a conversation with a mentor at Learning Connexion in 2007 that I became aware of print. In the summer of 2008 I joined PCANZ (Print Council of Aotearoa New Zealand), and went to a Summer School. I was hooked! I was so excited that I didn't sleep for nights as I tried to digest all that I had seen and heard during the days.

I have since then tried all sorts of different forms of printmaking but have recently settled on reduction linocuts as my thing. I am excited by the endless possibilities that one piece of lino provides as it is progressively inked and cut away, each time developing more of the finished image. I have done an edition of 45 but my preferred edition size is small, and I like to make the edition variable to create more challenges and interest during the process.

I have exhibited widely in New Zealand and had work selected for exhibitions in Spain, Japan, USA and UK.
